How to find a new family member
Thank you for your interest in adopting one of our animals.
These animals need love and we are happy to help you in your search.
Think carefully about whether you can give an animal a home.

¿How does it work?
Here we show you how an animal adoption process is usually carried out.
There are a number of questions that need to be clarified beforehand in order for the adoption to be successful.
We want to make sure that you and the animal can live happily together in the future.
A new pet brings a lot of joy, but also responsibility. Before you decide to get a pet, you should clarify a few important questions to ensure that you and the animal are a good match.
- Are all family members in agreement with the acquisition of a new pet?
- Would you like to adopt a dog or a cat?
- What qualities should the animal have?
- What role do you want the animal to play in your life?
- How much experience do you already have with pets?
- Do you have enough time and interest to devote to a new animal?
- Does your daily routine suit the animal's needs?
- Can an adult take primary responsibility for the animal?
- Can you ensure that the animal is kept in a species-appropriate manner?
- How long will the animal have to be alone each day?
- Who will look after the animal during your vacation time or in case of illness?
- Is the financing of running costs and possible veterinary costs in the event of illness guaranteed?
We have extensive experience in the placement of animals and will be happy to advise you in detail - ideally during a visit to our animal shelter.
- We can suggest a suitable animal or you can decide for yourself which animal you like.
- We will then check together whether you and the animal are a good match.
- Please bring the completed self-disclosure form with you to your visit.
It is very important that you and the animal have the opportunity to get to know each other before making a final decision. Here we explain how we organize this meeting:
Family participation:
If possible, all family members should be present to meet the animal. This will help assess the dynamics and make sure everyone is comfortable.
Presentación del animal:Introduction of the animal:
We will introduce the animal and then allow time to interact with the animal in a calm, uninterrupted manner.
Support in special cases:
If the animal has more complicated behavior, a team member will be present to help and ensure a positive experience for both of you.
Information about the animal:
Each animal has an assigned caregiver who will be able to explain its character, habits and specific needs.
Direct interaction
- If it is a dog, you can take it for a walk to observe its behavior.
- If it's a cat, you can spend time with it in a quiet environment and see how it responds to your company.
Building a relationship:
The relationship between an animal and a person takes time. Be respectful of its cues and don't pressure it. Some animals prefer to be touched or looked at directly, while others may need more space at first.
Understand the differences:
Each animal is unique. Their reactions will vary depending on their background, their character and their level of trust.
Our goal is to make the encounter as comfortable and natural as possible.
If you have decided to adopt an animal, we will schedule an appointment for its pickup.
Steps prior to adoption:
Confirmation of your choice:
Once you have selected an animal, we will reserve it for you.
Necessary preparations:
Before the handover, certain preparations may be required, such as:
- Ensuring you have everything needed to welcome the animal (food, bed, toys, etc.).
- Checking that your home is suitable for the new member.
Veterinary check-up:
The animal may require a visit to the veterinarian before adoption to ensure it is in good health and complies with all regulations (vaccination, deworming, etc.).
Appointment for handover:
Once these steps are completed, we will schedule a day for you to come and pick up the animal and formalize the adoption process.
We will ensure that everything is in order to guarantee a smooth and comfortable transition for both you and the animal.

The arrival of a new animal in your home is a process that requires care, patience, and respect to ensure the animal feels safe and comfortable in its new environment.
Key Tips:
Avoid rushing
No apresure la adaptación del animal. Cambiar de entorno puede ser estresante, y necesitará tiempo para familiarizarse con su nueva casa y rutina.Do not hurry the animal’s adjustment. Changing environments can be stressful, and they will need time to get familiar with their new home and routine.
Allow time to adapt:
Establish regular schedules for feeding, walks, and rest. Consistency helps the animal feel more secure.
Respect the animal’s space:
Avoid overwhelming the animal with too much attention or interaction in the first few days. Let them explore and approach at their own pace.
Avoid drastic changes:*
During the first few weeks, limit the presence of visitors or external stimuli, such as long walks or unfamiliar environments.
Specific Recommendations for Cats:
Keep cats indoors for at least four weeks before allowing them outside. This gives them time to recognize their new home as a safe base.
Set boundaries with care:
Teach the animal household rules firmly but kindly, using positive reinforcement to encourage good behavior.
Giving your new pet time and space is crucial for building a relationship based on trust and mutual affection. Remember that every animal is unique and will adapt at their own pace.
The animal you have selected has spent time in our shelter, where it has been cared for with dedication. During this period, various costs have been incurred to ensure its well-being, including:
- Food: Providing appropriate and nutritious meals.
- Veterinary care: This includes vaccinations, microchipping, deworming, and any necessary treatments.
- Basic utilities: Expenses for water and electricity to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
- Cleaning: Daily upkeep of the facilities to ensure hygiene and the health of the animals.
- Repairs and maintenance: Preserving the shelter’s areas in good condition.
As a non-profit organization, we rely exclusively on donations to cover these costs. Therefore, we kindly ask you to consider making a voluntary contribution as a gesture of support and commitment to the care of the animal you are adopting.
Your support allows us to continue providing shelter and care to other animals in need! 😊
We strive to provide you with the best possible guidance when choosing an animal to minimize the likelihood of needing to return it. However, we understand that in exceptional cases, returning the animal to the shelter may be necessary or advisable.
Important aspects to consider!
Exceptional cases:
A return should only occur in special circumstances, such as unavoidable changes in your personal situation or a serious incompatibility between you and the animal.
No return due to illness:
An unexpected illness in your new pet is not considered a valid reason for a return. In such cases, we encourage you to seek veterinary care and support.
Fee for early return:
If the return takes place shortly after adoption, an administrative fee will be charged to cover administrative and logistical costs.
We would like to remind you that adopting an animal is a long-term commitment. If you encounter difficulties, we are here to offer guidance and support before you decide to return the animal.
