Challenges with the neighborhood
- The road to this success was not an easy one, however. Some residents feared that the feeding stations would attract cats to the area and cause additional problems.
- But through intensive discussions and the presentation of facts, we were able to convince them: street cats that are fed regularly are less compelled to search for food in garbage cans.
- This reduces the risk of disease transmission and the animals behave more calmly overall.
A success for all
- Since the feeding stations were set up, the coexistence of humans and cats has improved noticeably.
- Two of our dedicated volunteers have been officially registered as caretakers and look after the animals every day. In addition to feeding the cats, they also monitor their health and organize neutering campaigns.
- This work shows that animal welfare and consideration can go hand in hand. Street cats are not annoying intruders, but living creatures that deserve our care.
- And as our project proves, everyone benefits from well-organized care: the cats live healthier lives and the neighbourhood is relieved of potential problems.
